Post Adjustments in what order for idle speed?

Ok, I got my head gasket job done last month, and everything went excellent, thanks to Roger Brown! I just re-adjusted the TPS, also per Roger Brown's site, and what a difference!

Now, my question. Assuming that the dashpot, idle screw, and the timing all affect idle speed, in which order should these things be adjusted? And if there are other adjustable parts that affect idle speed, please include those in your answers. Be patient, I'm still learning. I just don't want to adjust one thing, then have to keep going back to correct something else.

Thanks,

Get your timing set right first, factory spec is 5* before TDC. I set mine at about 8*. Next, set the main idle speed with the idle screw at about 700-800 rpm. Then, I think the dashpot should be set about 2000 rpm.

Jumped the diagnostic didnt really do anything. I went by the manual, but went by sound instead, It ran way better! Maybe Im just a crack pot and didnt really do anything to it to help or hurt, I just dont know anymore, HEEEELLLLLLPPPP!!!!!!

Thanks a lot Nathan! I knew there had to be a correct way to do this

Since jimabena74 answered your first question, I'll try to answer your second. The dashpot reduces hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide by opening the throttle a little during deceleration, which allows the air/fuel mixture to burn completely.
As far as timing, one thing I learned from Roger is that the throttle position sensor needs to be adjusted properly before adjusting the timing. If the rpm's do not change when you jump the ALDL connector, chances are your TPS needs adjusting. I know you have a V6, but read Roger's article on this anyway.
