I'll throw in my 2 cents.
I bought one for a domestic truck many moons ago. There's a ton of work, to include installing an evaporator under the dash. On some models it's not too bad; on others it's a nightmare.
Then you get to fit a condensor in front of the radiator, install compressor, hoses, accumulator, electrical, etc. etc. etc.
Even if you contract out the work, you're likely going to find that after-market A/C is nowhere near as reliable as factory.
I'll never go this route again.

ac
Don't be scared! I added it to my 86 last yr that I got out of a wrecked truck(payed $150)I did it after afriend did it to his and he said how easy it was. My truck had all the plugs allready there just had to plug the used parts into it.I had a garage suck it down added the oils and R134a ($80) and it blows 40dgrees, That's pretty cold. You should clean out all the lines and use all new O-rings and accumulator($25)

most of the stuff like the wires are there on mine too. i think i probally should go the factory way. the heater core is a sinch to get to, only like 5 screws and 1 nut, so unlike typical vehicles this doesnt look to bad i guess ill be on the look out for a wrecked truck with ac..... is there anything i should know like.... certain years that will match my truck or certain engine sizes like the 22re verses the v6. any tips will help.
thanks

I would look for the exact same yr truck and defineattly same engine to avoid any problems. The one problem I had was my ac came from a efi truck were my toy is carburated. So I had to get one more piece that went to the carb that increased the idle when the ac is turned on,that's why I think you should stick with the same setup donor truck. The junkyards around me are very helpful, they tell you exactually what yrs will work for you.I would think 89-93 would all be they same thou.Maybe someone else knows better.Good luck
