I have a 3" Revtek spacer on my 96' 4Runner and I would like to add 1/2"- 1" with the possibility of stronger springs. I have came up with a possiblr solution and wanted to get some input.

Revtek 3" Has:
1.5" Main Spacer which goes on top of the spring.
.5" Additional spacer which goes on top of the strut assembly.
=2" where does the 3" come from?

Solution
1.75" OME 881
.5" OME trim Packer
.5" Small Revtek spacer.
=2.75 " right?

Has anyone tried a setup like this, or possible problems that can occur?

I don't have a solution, but once you find one...let us all know. Even their new kit that I have on my 03' 4.7L is only about 2-2.5" in both the front and rear...same deal, but enough room to clear 33's with minimal tirmming. Keep us posted.

i just installed the cornfed 3 inch lift and the spacer wasnt 3 inches and it didnt even add 3 inches to the top of the whole strut assembly. but it did lift my truck 3 inches, i think it has something to do with the spacer compressing the spring to give it the lift.

Since you're talking about struts, then I assume that you're talking about the front lift...

With that said, you aren't taking into account the geometry of the front suspension. The strut eye (bottom) doesn't connect at the wheel, but actually connects about half way out the lower arm. This gives the strut "leverage". What I mean by that, is if the strut becomes 1" longer, then the wheel will actually move farther than that due to the lever principle of the design. Typically, 3rd Gens see 1.5 to 1.75 time the thickness of the spacer as actual lift. If you have an actual 2" of spacer thickness, then that should give you 3-3.5" of lift, which would pretty much destroy your CV joints.

Your right I wasn't thinking about where the strut connected. 2" at the spring would give 3" then. I do have a total of 2" on the spacer, with the diff drop, and my CV boots have torn on me. I now have the mechtech boots and so far so good. Now that I know this. Maybe I could:

OME 881- 1.75
Revtek - .5
= 2.25

A quarter of an inch higher, so possibly 1/2" at the wheel.

Or am I asking for major CV problems with only a 1/2" extra?

You should be fine. Plenty of people are running 881's with 1" cornfed spacers.

2" of spacer will give you 3" of lift, with 1999-2000 V6, 4WD Coils.

Not the crappy 1996-1997 ones.

Your solution will be very stiff.

i think the main revtek spacer is actually 1.25" thick. this alone would produce about 2.5" lift.

the revtek topout spacer is 3/8" thick, resulting in the other 1/2" lift.

(THESE RESULTS OBVIOUSLY VARY DEPENDING ON YEAR, ENGINE, and 2WD/4WD).

there is a tacoma here in georgia with the same setup you are proposing. he loves his setup.

he also has a ARB bumper and Warn winch to soften up the ride.

my suggestion:

maybe try adding the 880 coils with trim packers and the topout spacer.

I am going to be making a new front bumper, which will weigh probably 100-150 lbs in a couple of weeks. This is part of the reason for considering the 881's and a little more lift. Also for those of you who have heavy front bumbers with stock springs and spacers, How much did you notice the front end drop? Did you experience a bottoming out issue in the front?

thats wayyyy too much for just the bumper. 100 is pushing it.

150 is about right for bumper/winch.
