Acetone to increase mileage?
Just came across this video, the first couple factors are a given, never really heard about the addition of small quantities of acetone, and that trick supposedly raised 10mpg. now i'm always skeptic on big numbers such as this so i just wanted to share it with you guys, what do you think?

I found an article similar to that one a year or so ago. It basically stated that adding an ounce of acetone for every ten gallons of gas would increase mileage by some astronomical number.
I tried it for a few tanks and couldn't really see a major difference. But then I was doing all city driving at the time and with all the stop and go it was kind of hard to judge. If I were going on a long road trip I would give it another go to see.

I stick with what comes out of the pump. The last thing i want is something to eatup a fuel pump, fuel line, o-ring on an injector or a hole in a piston. Not saying acetone will do this but i am seing lots of threads here and other forums with people mixing things trying to acheive a better MPG.

This idea has been around for quite some time and I tired it about 10 years ago and never saw any real gains and have read things that it's not real friendly to some of the fuel system. It could ust cost you more in the long run if you incur damage from trying it.

I heard jumping on your left foot 3 times and spitting over your right shoulder once increase your MPG by 10-20%. I tried it many times, and there was only a slight increase in MPG. It's quite likely that there is no benefit at all, but I do it before the long trips.
