Accessory compatibility between Gen 2 and Gen 3 runners

I'm retiring my 3VZ 3.0 slow (manual tranny :cry because of a blown engine, I've got a friend who is purchasing it and swapping in another 3.0 (I haven't convinced him to go 3.4 swap) for his 16 year old daughter. Cheap, reliable once the new eng. is in, all good.

But before he gets his mits on it, I want to know if any of what i've got on it is useful on the gen3 runner:
old runner has:
* aftermarket alarm for keyless. should just be a matter of finding the brain and ripping it + cables out, as the new 2001 runner has power locks but no remote.
* K&N Intake filter. I dunno? will it fit?
* Front grill guard. Mounts between the frame rails on the bottom, see pic under my name on the left of the post (avatar?) and it's that thing. It's the toyota OEM bumper guard.

I know my wheels will fit, just debating on keeping the gen2 rims w\ my 31x10.5 R15 Dunlop Mudders vs. this thing coming with the stock 01 rims and boring onroad tires.

Not worth it. You can Buy a new alarm and have it installed for less then $200.

* K&N Intake filter. I dunno? will it fit?

Not even close to the same. Pull it out and sell it on Ebay, you should get about $30 for it

* Front grill guard. Mounts between the frame rails on the bottom, see pic under my name on the left of the post (avatar?) and it's that thing. It's the toyota OEM bumper guard.

Again no

I know my wheels will fit, just debating on keeping the gen2 rims w\ my 31x10.5 R15 Dunlop Mudders vs. this thing coming with the stock 01 rims and boring onroad tires.

You may have trouble running 15" rims. My 15" Al rims off my old 4Runner rub the calipers on my 2000 4Runner.

yea basically just give the truck up.

you can find an alarm damn cheep and if you can wire it yourself, well then thats just dandy. i can actually get you a really good deal through my stereo installer.

Awww poop. I was hoping to get some use out of the old sucker. I'll check the clearance on the 15" rims and the new 4runner, I was really hoping to be able to keep the dunlop mud-terrain 31s since they're only got about 4K miles on them.

Thanks guys.

And yeah, I'm compentent enough to install an alarm... I may work as a sysadmin but I'm actually an EE by training.

As for the wheels, is it rubbing because of the diameter of the wheel or some sort of spacing issue?
