accelleration and gas issue for 2000 4runner
I recently purchased a 2000 sr5 (allegedly) 4runner about two weeks ago from a wholesale dealer for a very good price. It came with 98612 miles. I was not sure about it when I bought it, but i purchased it because it was for a very good price and I needed a vehicle to get around. The wholesale dealer said that they were going to put new brake pads and rotors on, new oil, check belts, and do a complete maintenance before it was sold to me. I have noticed a few issues with it though, the first one I noticed when I test drove it. It barely accelerates, the accelertor pedeal seems very tight and it seems as th ough you have to press really hard down in order for the rpms to go up or for it to move. I previously had a 98 4runner which seemed to accelerate much better. In addition I have noticed that the gas mileage plain ol sucks, I got gas yesterday and it was just under the full level, drove 80 miles and it is now at half empty. I do NOT expect the gas mileage of a prius or hybrid, but it accelerates as if I was towing a trailor. I weigh 150 pounds so it is not like there is a lot of cargo in it. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? In addition there is also a screeching sound that sometimes occurs when I accelerate, it almost sounds like it is coming from the bottom of the car and sounds like nails on a chalkboard.

Check out this thread for the gas pedal issue: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...tiff+gas+pedal
As far as the gas mileage, do you have bigger tires, a lift, etc?
