99 white guages pics
I just got my white indiglow gauges in today and installed them. They switch from green and blue. They also have a dimmer switch that has a trd emblem on it that lights up. They are good quality too. The pics on the second page are not good of them lit up.

I believe I got ones just like that off ebay. They havent come in yet but they come with the same switch. They look good.
You say the glow is much better than the pics show?
How hard were they to install?

I appreciate the effort pfdaxe, but there are some issues with those gauges. I've been browsing e-bay for about 6 months and almost ordered one of the sets you posted.
The flame gauges just don't appeal to me. Even if I could turn off the voice effects at night, I could still see them during the day.
If you look at the fuel gauge on the other set, you will notice that the "E" for empty is actually a "C". I confirmed that with the seller. Also, on the temperature gauge, there are indicators for an Automatic transmission (A/T P and A/T Oil Temp) - I have a manual tranny. :pat: I actually bought a set that were perfect except for the A/T indicators but I couldn't tell from the web page. I won't make that mistake again.
I appreciate the thought.

to biohazard:
check back on e-bay every once in a while, there was a really sweet set of silver gauges (kinda like the gauges on mark 3 volkswagen jettas and golfs) they also had some sweet white gauges. Both of these gauges didn't have too much indiglo (only the centers lit up), as several of my friends who drive ricers feel that they get too bright after a while and end up dimming them quite a bit. they were both really nice kits, although they were for automatic transmission, if that makes a huge difference.
as for 4runner4me:
how hard was the installation? how long did it take? and what tools did you need? your install looks great.

I am in the midst of installing my gauges now. I have been reading Bob's write up on how to install them. I am having a wiring problem.
I dont have much experience wiring anything other than my pc. But the write up says to wire it to my parking light. Well, the wires that I have with my gauges are not long enough. I need to tap it into a wire under the dash. I dont have a clue as to which wire to tap it to. I dont have anything to tap it with. I will go to the store to get whatever I need to tap the wire. Just tell me what it is.
Any suggestions would be great. I have a 2001 4runner. I have my digital cam ready if I need to take pics to help show you what i mean.

Sabre,
I believe the wire is a 16 or 18 gauge wire. just buy a small spool of it from radio shack. if youre not skilled at the art of crimping (haha---its easy), they do have butt connectors that you can just screw on and be done with it.
Part of the trick to running the wire thru the existing firewall is to find the thickest coat hanger you have, straighten it out and poke a hole. Run the wire thru the hole to the appropriate wire.

Bob,
How can I thank you? I got it done and it seems to work fine. I wahsed and waxed it after as well and even took a few pics. Unfortunately the sun is setting and the shadows are not helping. I also am using my video camera which has digital still capture. The setting is off so the pics didnt come clean. I will do it again hopefully tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
I have finally decided to add a sig and avatar. I hope they work.

I just installed mine today.
Anyone have any tips on doing a nice OEM style mounting of the Switch/Brightness gauge so it looks good, on the Left side of the front panel (above the fusebox) on the '96?
Thanks

Very nice!
How did you remove the switch and dimmer off of the factory plate thing, in order to mount to where you put yours?
Also, if you have any closeup picks, that would be great!
Thx

Thanks. The factory dimmer knob just pulls off and theres a nut holding the pot to the panel. The plate thingy where I mounted the Indi dimmer just pops off. For the color rocker switch, I just used a drill and small square file to mount it into the lower plastic panel. I believe I cut the switch off the cheezeball mounting plate as I did'nt want to cut/splice the wire.
