Today on the highway the light come on again. grrrr while excelerating it make a gargling/pining noise... any insight guys....?????

the o2 sensor infront of the cat has also just been replaced

ohh ya the code the first couple of times has been "bank one running lean" i'am guessing it's the same code again..

mike,

i believe thats your front O2 sensor. and good news: easy to replace and not that expensive.

I had the exact same code except I THINK mine said bank 2 was running lean, although it might've been bank 1. Anyhow, our mechanic cleaned the MAF and the problem went away and came right back....as it turns out I had to have the MAF replaced entirely. That was 2 months ago and the problem hasnt come back since.
Hopefully Bob's right though, cause MAF's arent too cheap

4runners only have one bank of sensors so the codes for the 2 O2 sensors would be bank 1, sensor 1 and bank 1, sensor 2 with the second sensor being the one downstream of the converter (also in 99+ the front sensor is an A/F sensor NOT just an O2 sensor).

We really need to know the actual OBD code number to dignose properly.
Get one of these for $40 and you can pull the code yourself:

i too am experiencing check engine light due to the bank 1 sensor one lean condition. it started after driving on a VERY dusty road stuck behind a parade of boat and rvs. i cleaned the mas and got the code for the lean condition on the code reader. tried pulling the pre cat sensor and cleaning it with brake parts ncleaner then reinstalled. so far so good, only about 50 miles though.

my question is where do i find the sensors or maf without getting hoses by the dealer? is there a location i can find bosch part numbers so i can avoid the dealer mark up by ordering by part number elsewhere?

thanks in advance

And if you need a MAFS, I believe humanoid has a post regarding MAFS's going for $50 on ebay (buy it now). FYI.
