I have this strange problem with my runner, usually when driving over 30mph the truck wouldn't accelerate and gain any speed instead the engine revs 3000rpm or more, it feels like there is no power going to wheels, it also happens when turning corners at the above speed, the problems occurs intermittently. I've checked fluid level and check engine light everything is fine. Could it be torque converter or something else.

Thoughts?

I have 99 runner, 2.7l 4cyl automatic, 4x4, 81,000 miles

is it shifting into upper gears? it sounds like 3k at 30 is 1'st gear.

if it's shifting gears, but feels like it's dragging, maybe it's just time for an tranny oil change.

Shifting to upper gears is just fine, I don't feel any drag whatsoever. The problem only occurs suddenly when driving over 30mph. I've checked the fluid seemed to be at right level and fresh color.
