99 4runner Fuel Tank Capacity?
Hi, I cannot figure out what the fuel tank capacity for my 4runner is. THe owners manual says 18, but I don't think that that is correct. The gauge goes to empty after about 13 gallons and then the light is on for another 20 miles. I just haven't ever made it run out and wanted to know what I can expect even if my gauge is wrong. Can anyone help me in this area? THanks

Haha, I should prob look into fixing my fuel gauge as well.
I was 60 miles from Moab when my Empty light went on with no services til Moab.
I drove really carefully (slow) trying not to go over 2k rpm so as not to waste gas.
I pull into a Moab gas station, fill up, and only use 16 gallons!
I figure the light must have gone off at 13 gallons and I drove for another 3 gallons on 'empty', only to find out I still had 2 gallons left.
edit: I haven't read it yet, but this looks like a promising thread from searching on 'fuel gauge'

At the top of this page is a blue line. One of the buttons in that blue line is 'Search'. Press the button and type 'fuel gauge' in the search window. Also try 'tsb el-010'
