Hi Everyone, has anyone experienced and resolved the blistering of the factory overlay on the Tach and Speedo cluster of a 1999 Limited, apparently this material is known to delaminate in other industries/applications, the hotter my dash gets the bigger the blisters become of course. On a related note I had my inclinometer and fuel sending unit swapped at the stealership for $800 (disturbing since it is known faulty part(s) causing a safety issue labeled as a TSB that could have left me frozen to death up North or rear ended on the 401, and now I have 0kms after swap..) and Toyota suggested I buy new replacement Tach & Speedo to fix overlay blistering =$800approx. Has anyone found a fix for this, from what I read only 4R Limited gauges can be used, no Taco or SR5 Tach & Speedo will plug in from what I read, so what years where not effected if I go the wrecker route, or is it just my early MFG Date 98' - 1999 limited?, because I haven't found anyone else with this issue online.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I've never heard of this happening before, very peculiar.

What I would do, is get a cluster from a wrecker (from same generation Limited) and swap over the odo/speedo module from yours.

Here is a pic of it when its cold, turn up the heat and it gets considerably worse.

If it is bubbled when cold, the damage is likely not going to go away.
Assuming that it happens when it's cold out and you have the heater blasting at full bore, have you checked the internal HVAC ducts to see if all the joints are still together? The plastic duct work inside the dash on these trucks is pathetically bad...thin walled, easily warped polypropylene tubing.
I know on mine the plastic distorts/shrinks/other and gaps develop, which spew hot or cold air behind the dash where I don't want it to be.
On mine, the gap was behind the far left dash vent, and it was impossible to push the two ducts together. I used silicone "rescue tape" to create a large wraparound patch which, if I'm lucky, is still there 1.5 years later.
