98 Tocoma Squealing On Start

When I start up my truck, I get a loud squealing that lasts maybe a minute if not only a few seconds. As the sound stops, I get a little surge in power/clutch type engagement from the truck. I have also noticed that at higher speeds, I can hear a high pitch sssssssss, very faint though. Maybe a bearing going out in the alternater or clutch? Thanks for your help with this question.

Most likely a belt that is slipping. Check the tension on your belts.

I just replaced an alternator with a bad bearing. If the bearing is bad it doesn't stop. It just gets louder the warmer it is and the longer it runs.

definitely a belt, like they said, check the tension, if it is really worn throw on new belts, if not, tighten them a bit and hit them with some belt lube.

Could be the alternator or the belts, check both.
Check belts for wear and replace as needed or retension.

Belt lube? We wouldn't want those belts sticking now would we.

It's belt dressing isn't it?
