98 4runner won't start!

A few days ago, I unlocked my 98 4runner Limited and the alarm went off. The remote would not shut it off, nor would the internal door lock or starting the truck(which shouldn't have even been possible during an alarm?). Being that it was 7am and I was annoying the neighbors, I pulled the brain to disable it. The starter was disabled when I tried again. Eventually, I disconnected the battery and tried again, and the car started. Over the next couple of days, I would go to my car and it would not start unless I dc'd the battery and reset the alarm system. Now it will not start and the alarm will not reset. I am dead in the water.

Anyone have any ideas? Bypassing the alarm seems like the most obvious way to go. Does anyone have any info on how to remove it?

Thanks in advance.

Well first off have you left the battery disconnected overnight yet?

That may be all it needs to fix it is a full reset. It takes a few hours for all the backup power to ware off.

Whoops. Bad ground. I originally checked the ground by doing a diode test. Truck had good voltage, but not a good current source (High resistance path to ground due to corroded cable). The alarm kept tweaking from the bad connection. The reality is that the starter was not disabled, there just wasn't enough juice for it to operate. Stereo and everything else would work because they are low current. When I moved the cabling to "reset the alarm" I was shuffling the cable enough to get a good, but intermittent, circuit.

Moral: When checking grounds measure resistance instead of merely checking for basic continuity.

Thanks for the help anyway. Cheap fix this time.
