97 Tacoma bucket seats swap to Bench seat?
I have a 97 Tacoma standard cab w/ automatic. I want to swap in a bench seat in place of the buckets. Anyone done this? I imagine it's a straight bolt in but wasn't sure. Thanks.
ps- Ian if your reading this maybe we could work something out?

We'll I'd be interested in the buckets if they are in good shape, and depending on how much you want for them. We didn't do this exact conversion, but we did do a bucket to bench swap in an old scout. The main trouble you'll have is the center console. It's going to be tough to get the gear shift trim to look good. In the scout we just tore it out and went with rubber boots. I don't know exactly how the taco seats work, but we were able to remove the far left rail from the driver seat and the far right from the passenger and bolt them on to the mounting system of the bench. The bench and buckets had almost the same mounting config but not quite, and so we had to swap. You'll also need to plug the other 4 holes in the floor. Not sure if i helped at all, but if you do end up doing this, PM me about the bucket seats.

Assuming the bench is from a same-generation or later Tacoma (through '04) it should be a direct bolt-in. The single bench uses a subset of the bolt holes needed for the 60/40's or the separate buckets.
You will, however, have some bolt holes left over that you may want to plug in some way...

Enola and Axle Ike, thanks for the info. I don't mind having some center console trim issues...seeing as I have no carpet, shift boots, or anything else at the current time. So you say it's a direct bolt up eh?? Sounds like I may have to rock a bench seat soon!

If this helps- i have an 04 tundra and recently swapped out my bucket seats for bench seat. I got the bench seat from an 00 Tundra and bolted down perfectly. i guess until they really change the model of truck or SUV, i dont see y they wont fit. Wouldnt this cost Toyota more money to change location of bolts year round? Well.. I still have my clean driver bucket seat and the driver seat that came with the bench seat sittin in the garage. If anyone wants.. let me know!
