96 Runner headlights hot side or negative

Hey guys running a 96 4runner was wondering if the headlights were controlled by hot side switching or negative side switching? I have the FSM for the electrical diagrams but doesn't state which these tucks use. I'm trying to install and auto head light control like directed 545T. Thanks guys!

Red face

If you have the electrical diagrams look.

It is very easy to tell

I have the 97 so mine could be different and I don`t want to give you the wrong information.

DRL's = switched hots.
Non-DRL's=switched grounds.

So switched grounds for you, unless your truck is Canadian.

Wiring diagrams:

There may be some minor differences to yours but this should be close enough for what you need.

Uhh...how can you tell what? Sorry, I don't understand the question.

If the issue is switched hots or switched grounds, it is easier to look at the common terminal on the bulb. If that leads back to ground, it is switched hots. If it leads back to 12v+, it is switched grounds. May be backwards, but easier.
