'92 Pics
Hey guys,
My girlfriend is lookin at a '92 model Runner and she wants to see what the differences are between that and my '95. Post some pics of your '92's so she can compare it to mine.
Thx.
Fink

Uhh.... they look exactly the same. Just tell her to look at yours. the headlights were changed for the 92 year. 90-91 have the "sunken in" headlight look, and 92-95 have the aerodynamic headlight look. i.e. your 95. the only big difference was that the limited stle was available in 95.

Yeah, I dunno what I was thinking but I thought the early '92 models still had the sunken in look to them. Well shoot yeah, I'll just have her look at mine.
Thanks for clearin that up.
While I have a thread going,
the rig she's lookin at seems pretty nice, its a '92 V6 4WD Automatic, new brakes, new radiator, new water pump, bigger tires and chrome rims (haven't looked at them yet), its grey and the best part is it only has 138,000 miles on it. Mine is a '95 and i have 125! They are asking $4,995, think thats a reasonable price? Like I said I haven't seen it or driven it yet, so I dunno the actual condition of it but he said the A/C runs well, nice and cold, everything works on it...so...
What I will probably have Lindsay (my g/f) do is take it to my mechanic and have him look it over, thats pretty much a 50 dollar insurance policy on whether everything looks OK.
Anyway, what do you think about that price?
Thx. guys!

Well one thing for sure, glad you're bringing her to our side I'm trying to convince my gf to buy a 4runner after she rids herself of her heep.
Make sure you go with her and drive it too, dunno how much of a gearhead she is, but people who tend to tinker with their toys notice bugs like vibration, pulling, and all that alot more.

HEADGASKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get the vin and get the nearest Toyota dealership to run it. If they say that it is not a realy thing call another place. if it's a 92 then it falls in the service campaign/ If you take care of her hopefully she will take care of you........

Fan?
Check the Fan make sure it dose not have any black rub marks on it. It is not that expensive to replace but they do have a tendency to shatter when they get old (if this happens you are looking at some major repairs). My mechanic had one explode on him and lucky for him he only had to get five stitches in his head.

Thanks for the advice guys. What do you think of that price though? Sound pretty good? Her mom is the one that is going to be paying for most of it so she is going to give the guy a call and see when they can come test drive it. I will DEFINATELY be going with her, I don't want that guy scamming them into paying more than its worth.
Thanks again for the advice, I'll let ya know what the condition is when/if I go see it.

Speaking of headgasket, I need to call my dealer and see if it falls into the recall and whether or not it has been done. Hmm...

I would say that it is a real good price. Do a carfax on it just to be safe. Also find out when was the last time the timing belt was changed. It should be every 60k miles. Good luck.
