91 4Runner is idling too low, what can I do?

My RPMs are fluxing....Goes to about 200 rpms and up to 600 rpms (where it should be) Just goes up and down when I am idling....sometimes it dies...has 265k mi is it the timing or can I do anything else?

My old '91 runner did the same thing and it turns out it wasn't firing on one of the cyls. But it could be a number of things:

• Dirty injectors
• Dirty Air Filter
• Needs new plugs(fouled out plugs?)
• Dirty Throttle Body
• Timing
• Plug wires

Maybe others will throw out suggestions

I think you about covered it
Do these things first ,& if the problem persist ask again,& im sure we can give you some more technical fixes(no sense confusing you now).
