'85 Toyota extended cab: what to look for?

Hello...I am gonna go look at an '85 ext cab p/u, solid axle obviously, 22RE engine, 5 spd, don't really know anything else about it, oh, other than it's 2wd  but that can be fixed or maybe it'll be a more street-style ride. Anyway, what should I be looking for, other than rust? The dude wants $500, but maybe I could get it for $400, so an engine swap DEFINITELY just became possible...those supra engines bolt up to 22re mounts, don't they? Anyway....what should I be looking at, other than the obvious head gasket/trans/clutch/smoke/oil leak type stuff?

the 5mge or 7mge motors in the mk2 supra (5mge) and mk3 supra (7mge) do not bolt up to 22re motor mounts. Supras always have had inline 6 cylinder engines, with w58 (standard)transmissions

sorry

from my extensive reading of these forums, i would say that a 7m engine will bolt up to the 22re mounts. but you will need the motor mounts that came from a 5mge.

you might also need to pound the firewall slightly.

That's what I thought, too.

Anyway, I went out there to take a look, it was in the middle of nowhere, and I got lost on the way  but I got there eventually. It was in decent shape. Had some bed rust on the outside, the tailgate was shot basically, there were a couple other minor things, but it screamed "potential," and the frame was solid. It was 22R, not 22RE, but it started up fine (with a jump as the battery was dead) it has new tires, brakes, exhaust. I gave it a little test drive...I'm not really good with manual transmissions...it was smooth, much faster than my 4runner, a lot more like a rwd car than a pickup. The interior was in real nice shape, headliner looked great, it has 200k miles... I got an insurance quote... it will cost roughly 2/3 of what I'm paying now, add in what gas is costing me now, and it starts to look real nice. Plus, it has plenty of room for my stereo stuff.
