5VZ-FE head gaskets???

I have a supercharged 98 4runner with a 190k. I am planning on changing the timing belt, water pump, valve cover gaskets, head gaskets and supercharger rebuild. Question is what head gaskets should I use Yota OEM or aftermarket??

Is the HG blown now? If not, I wouldn't touch it. Its not really a common problem area with the 98 and up 5VZFE. I can understand the "as long as I'm in that far" thing but that's taking it too far IMHO.

No the hg are not blown. I was going with "sense Im in that deep" plus the heads look easy to remove.

I agree with mt goat... It's a big job to do as 'preventative maintenance' and not worth the time if your HG is not blown.

Take a look here for a good idea of what is involved to replace the HG (hehe, mt goat posted the thread I thought I copied in here, so I will post my 2nd favorite):

I think checking the valve clearance would be a better use of time than replacing a good head gasket: http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1996/SIL/...alcle/insp.pdf

Haha, that's what I get for cutting-n-pasting without double checking.

I swapped the link out to mastacox's thread since you snagged my 1st choice.

If its sealed nicely.... don't f- with it! you might have to machine the block surface then you gotta pull the motor, etc.
Also, you'll prob mess up some of the exhaust studs.
Honestly, leave it alone unless you want to pull the motor and do a full rebuild.
