when i put the tranny in reverse and back up. ...as as i depress the clutch to start coasting, i hear a clunk. ..it doesn't make the sound any other time in any other situation ...just when i depress the clutch while going in reverse.

it almost sounds like the tranny disengaging from the reverse gear. .. is this normal for the 5 speed?

hmm my tranny goes whines like a S\C in reverse....but everytime i look under the hood there still isn't one there, and it doesnt do it in the forward gears...are you dumping the clutch?....i know i have a diffrent tranny but my truck launches a LOT harder in reverse than it does going foreward

either you are doing some fancy footwork with the gas/clutch at the same time causing a harsh disengage or its probably your U-Joint saying "hello, please grease me or replace me" ...

i checked the u-joints. ..they are ok

ok, imagine driving in reverse down the road and depressing the clutch to coast. ...as soon as the clutch disengages, there is a "clunk/pop" ....what i don't understand is why it only happens while in reverse?

noticing the same thing on my 94 4runner 4wd 5spd... any updates?
