I own an 86 toyota pickup 4 inch lift 35" tires. convertable top. I rebuilt the 22re in it, juiced it up a little.

I just have to verify something with some experienced YOTA person. In 4wd the truck acts when I am driving 20mph or more like it has a bad tie rod and drifts all over the road. It also has some vibration and binding on ocasion. I suspect that it may be a bad axle. If any one has any ideas I'd appreciate it.

I can also try to answer any engine tech or mechanical question you may have.

It's gonna bind and vibrate on dry pavement.....general rule is don't use 4wd on high traction surfaces. I assume the drifting is normal when the front end is pulling. I haven't used 4wd on the road in a while (not much rain) but I think it did do that.

Ditto the above - on hard surfaces it will steer funny, make odd noises, and bind like crazy when you turn. It will also destroy the Tcase quickly.

It isn'r on just dry pavement. It almost feels like one of the axle is binding and causing it to drift, it can't be tie rod because it doesn't do it in 2wd

it could be one of your hubs not locking in all the way, your cv joints might be bad, but for the most part on pavement it is guna act a little goofy in 4wd. just like fwd cars have torque steer. i don’t think it is going to hurt your t-case any being on hi traction surfaces. what do all the 4wheelers do in Moab. That slick rock is like driving on pavement and you don’t here of them grenading there t-case all the time.

HUGE difference between a few miles of trails at 1-2 mph and highway use. HUGE. It WILL destroy a tcase running in 4wd on the pavement unless by some miracle your tires are inflated to EXACTLY the same rolling radius, and you almost never go around corners...
