4WD Indicator

I have a 2000 LTD 4WD with e-locker!

I am wondering what is the system doing every once in a while especially when it's a little cold, the 4WD lights (4 greens and one yellow) keep flashing for about 5-10 minutes before it goes off. No I did not engage anything just in 2H mode. Off course it doesn't do it every morning but once in a while. Is it normal?

My other question is can the 4WD be engaged while those lights are flashing?

When I push the 4WD button on the shift level, only the 4 geen lights come up, is 4 wheel turning at the same time and the center differential is unlock? or just two rears wheel are having power and the front wheels kick in when needed?

Thanks,

Nam

that is not normal for them to just flash without you engaging the 4wd system.

if you hit the button and the greens are on, then it has engaged. sometimes mine flashes for a bit before engaging, other times it just goes straight to green, so i assume that is normal.

hope that was at all helpful.
