4th Gen Plug change interval

I have almost 36K miles on my 2003 (4.7 V8) and I want to know when the plugs are due to be changed. Anyone change their's yet? I usually change my Tacoma every 30K miles..

Thanks,

JK

Whats up bro? No, I didn't get the Tundra. I can't seem to make up my mind and I'm not sure if another truck is the best solution. I've also been looking at Land Cruisers, Acura TL, and Honda Accords. Whatever I decide, will have to be soon because our baby is due next month! We need a 2nd vehicle w/4doors and enough room to safely accomadate a child seat.

How are things with you? How is the training coming along? I hope all is well.

Later,

JK

There is a maintence suppliment that came with your owner's manual. That lists the time and mileage numbers for the recommended maintenance intervals. Mine lists plug changes due at 30,000 miles on the 3.4. I am sure the V8 will be different, but list in your book.

Oh, I forgot, that you must perform the maintenance and inspections listed in that book and doccument it or your warranty maybe void. Follow it and document it. Anyone can do it, but it must be documented or you maybe sorry...

Ya, I don't know off hand the when you have to change them, but the v8's have platium (sp?) tipped spark plugs. So chances are you will only have to change them once (maybe) in the lifetime of the 4runner. Where as the v6's don't have the platium tipped spark plugs so you have to change them sooner. Like "EDGE" said at around 120k or something like that.

I always document the book. However, in the book there are references to 2 different plug types. I'm not sure which variant that I have in mine.. I'm pretty sure that they're the platinums but if they are, I'm not sure that I want to leve them in there for 100K miles... Your thoughts on the platinum plugs?

What did you end up buying for your wife? The 4Runner? Murano?

Later,

JK
