4th Gen Headroom

Has anybody lowered a 4th gen seat--is it even possible? Edmunds rates it at 39.7(I assume this is with no sun roof)--the 2000 they rate at 39.3 but I have a sunroof--I got my seat lowered as I am 6'4". The 4th gen is perfect on paper--I just don't fit. I have been on a quest to find the perfect suv for my wife the 4Runner is built in Japan, we have been looking at 98 and 99 cruisers but the new runner with 270 hp and 17/23 would be sweet. And we can't afford much more than a SR5 4Runner becuase we have to pay cash to bring it over the border.

Alot of it has to do w/ just setting the seat up correctly. I've seen tall people (i myself am a small tiny person ) drive and they just recline the seat abit and lower to it's lowest position and have no problems.

You might want to look into that.

Good luck!

I have to thug it a bit and just recline it...

I'm 6ft 8in and have a 3rd gen, which is smaller than the 4th for head room. I drove a 4th gen the other day with a sunroof and it wasn't too bad for me so I think you will be in the clear unless most of your height is in your body and not your legs. I'm going through a delima with my next car purchase, that is going to be the main selling point for me. IF I FIT!! I'm sure you could get a different seat mounted with some custom brackets. I want to put some Volvo seats in my runner, sit in those for a long trip and you will be sold in a heart beat. Anyway... good luck!

Thanks for the input Austin--ya it sucks most of my height is my upper body--I look through the sun tint on the 4th gen--the seat on my 3rd gen is lowered to the floor. I drove a 02 QX4--I fit pretty well--but I would rather fit in a 4th gen!

I'm 6-5 and have lots of extra head room in my 4th gen. My father is 6-9 and even he has a lot of room. By far the most head room of any car I have had(durango, 2 pathfinders). check it out for yourself.
