4Runner Transmission issue

Ok here is my problem and i will try and describe my problem in the best detail as possible.

Ok so first off there is a whining noise that i hear when i fully depress the clutch petal but when i let off it goes away.

Second transmission seems to shift oddly. And i will describe this as when it gets warmed up all the way. It is almost like it gets out of line. Example say i was driving 70 mph and come to a complete stop by coasting in neutral. When i go to shift into 1rst gear it doesn't want to shift into any gear freely, BUT once i get it in to a gear it shift smooth as can be.

Ok and after i take off shifting from gear to gear it seems to almost catch between gears like after depressing clutch say shifting from 2nd to 3rd it will catch right before it completely gets all the way into position for 3rd gear.

Ok you should know that i just noticed this yesterday and i have not tried to troubleshoot this yet.

I was going to start with the transmission fluid but am not real sure where to start honestly even with that this vehicle is new to me.

Also have done a bit of research and saw a thread on here about a shift lever seat and bushing wondering if that could come into play here or not.

I will say that the clutch catches fine and does not pop out of gear.

Sounds like the synchros are doing their job.
Try downshifting until you end up at a stop.

Sounds like it needs a fluid change.

I think what's he's alluding to is that the transmission will not allow you to shift to a low gear, i.e. 1st or 2nd, when travelling at a high rate of speed to protect your engine. What he means is, if you're coming off a freeway, shift to 4th and let out the clutch and let the engine slow down to sub 2000 rpms or so, then shift down till you get to 1st gear. Sometimes it won't let you shift to 1 until you are at a complete stop. If all works well, then your transmission is working fine in that regard.

Most recently, I used a screw-on pump, from Autozone. It was cheap, and screwed right onto the oil bottle (quart or gallon), and pumped like a hand soap pump, with a hose that ran into the transmission.

It also leaked all over the place. I think the cheaper pumps that you squeeze probably work better. (also at Autozone)
