4Runner Rear Window Issues-HELP!

Ok...So after installing the new subwoofers and amp, I had an extreme rattling issue on the tailgate. I decided to get inquisitive Thursday night and took off the tailgate trim to see what was causing the extreme rattling and mapping out a dynamat install. Now with the trim panel removed, the rear window does not move in any way shape or form. I can hear something in the back trying to initiate something electrical (similar to a "click" when I push the button inside). Looked at the lift gate while trying to roll the window down (with both the inside switch and outside key) and the clicking noise is coming from some small plastic box with a wiring harness coming out of it(I'm assuming this is the relay). I heard that older gen Runners had a safety switch built into the lift gate that would not allow the window to roll down, but I have the bolt for the strap handle fully in. Anything else that I am missing, or did my bass just rattle the hel* out of something in the rear?

The small plastic box you're talking about is likely the back door ecu, and unlike the 2nd gen 4Runners, the 3rd gen 4Runners with the lift gate don't have the safety switch that looks for the door to be closed to allow the window to move.

Did your window move before the new stereo equipment was installed?

You can try jumper wires directly on the back door power window motor to see if the motor is still good.

Also, check all your fuses. On my 2002 4Runner wiring diagram, that logic shows 5 fuses feeding different parts of it.

Thanks for the response. Weird thing is literally an hour after I read your response, I got in the truck to go home from work and it worked! Maybe it knew it was being talked about...LOL
Well I'm hoping it was just a hiccup so I have decided to go ahead and sound proof the rear. I'm using the rubber stuff in a can and have some bad reviews (mostly smell for a week or so) but many good reviews. No audio store where I live had Dynamat in stock, so I went on over to Pep Boys. Anyone have any experience with this stuff? I just started with the metal panels that can be removed to access the wiper motor...

I can't seem to win here. Everytime I think I have the rattling issue resolved, it moves elsewhere!
First the license plate bracketing, then the rear tailgate, now the roof rack cross members since the roof is flexing. Looks like I'm on my way to the big orange HD after work to pick up some weather stripping. My next guess is going to be the sunroof mechanism... Any bets? LOL
