4runner Hoods Swappable? Going crazy.

Will someone please clear this up for me? I am about to buy a 99-02 4runner hood with the hood scoop and my 4runner is a 97. I was told that all hoods 96-02 are swappable by a few people. Makes sense, however the guy im buying it from insists that a 99-02 hood wont fit on a 97 toyota 4runner. So my question is... are all hoods from 96-02 swappable or not???? Thanks

Chris

http://www.usedpartslive.com/catalog...67+11779&Nty=1

its the second hood in the list SKU# T130101
im just wanting to make absolute sure before i spend 255 bucks on a hood that might not fit my 4runner. he says its different mounting hardware, dimensions and stuff. its brand new factory replacement for a stock 99-02, not a built one from scratch.

That guy shouldn't be selling parts. Its the same damn hood unless I am totally on crack.

That's a pretty good price. Let me know how the quality is when you get it.

it will fit, all is covered in the thread posted above, should set your mind at ease. however, when i ordered my hood the parts guy at toyota was on the fence about whether it would fit or not and made sure that i knew that it was a non-returnable item if i screwed up. this was because he said a mechanic had ordered the same hood to put on his tacoma and when he put it on, the hood hung 1/2"-1" over the front of the headlights/grille. that's just what he said though, i have no first hand knowledge of this. but i do know for 100% certainty that i ordered a sport hood with the part #s listed in the write-up thread and it fit just fine.

i hope it works out for you!

The only reason it says "99-02" is because Toyota did not offer a scooped hood until 1999. However, since the core support and front end is essentially the same between all the years (bumpers and grilles not-withstanding) the hood is the same as well.

Keep in mind that aftermarket one will fit so-so. Taiwan quality leaves much to be desired.

Patty: The reason the 4Runner hood didn't fit the Tacoma is just that....the 4Runner and Tacoma share NO body parts at all. They are a completely different beast, unlike their predecessors.

Choover: Keep in mind this is NOT a genuine Toyota hood. It is aftermarket. IE Made in Taiwan.

He wants to charge you $255, yet you can get a brand new FACTORY hood from toyotapartsales.com for $241. Why would you buy aftermarket?

Yea, that $255 price is crazy for an aftermarket hood. They buy those things for $75 or something silly like that.
