I too have gone through deep water with no modifications at all. I didn't plan to, but got caught out camping after a big rainstorm. My wife, me and 3 other groups had to cross a 100 yrd wide river that was 36" deep in the middle. The water was flowing pretty swiftly. Both my 94 and her 98 had wet carpets after. I came through the door seals on both cars and through the rubberfloor plugs on her 98. The carpets were wet on the right side only (up river side). When I got home I checked all fluids and no water. There was no water in the airboxes either. My fog lights did fill with water though. I was concerned about water getting in my airbox so I kept the wave going all the way across. Water was only about 2 inches below the intake. The intake on my wifes car was a least 8-12 inches above water at the deepest part. The other trucks (2 old Fords, and a old Blazer) made it across but sputtered badley from distributors etc. getting wet. When we all got across a guy that was driving a old harbody Pathfinder said my wife and I just drove across like it was no big deal, but the others had lots of problems. He thought it was pretty funny.
This is a picture of my wife going through. She just went through the deep part in the middle where the water flows at its low level. The average depth was 30" so the doors were under water for a good 1-2 minutes. I don't consider the wet carpet to be that bad.

I think I will be getting a snorkle soon. Too many close calls. That crossing scared me as the water was only inches from my headlight/intake. At least 3rd gens intakes are back and higher. I can only make a small bumper wave in front of me and be safe. Hyperlite, are those pictures from a video capture or a digital? They would make a great desktop if it was a big digital picture. Did your Hellas get any water in them?
