4R:3rd Gen: Adding a pulley to the belt system...

So my plans right now are to add this. (Accompanying thread) The thing is, I don't think it's a very good idea to piggy-back this pulley (even if it's part-time) off something else, especially my Alternator. This is where my inspiration came from. Right now the compressor has a double-V clutch on it, and I’d like to keep it on there. Does anyone have any opinions? Should I not worry about piggy-backing? I wish there was some way I could get a new pulley for the crank that takes a Serp., V-belt, Serp. If I can put the fan back on it's a plus, but otherwise it's a good reason to go electric. Thanks for any and all help everybody.

EDIT: So it's not the crank pulley, but the one above it with the fan attached to it. I don't knwo why i thought it was the crank pulley. Anyway, I didn't edit the post because I think you can get an idea anyway. It's the one that mounts to the attachment point here:

I think you should be okay going off the alternator. Others have done it without a problem. I'm in the process of adding a york to my '98 4Runner. I had a 6 rib 8" Serp. pulley CNC cut by f2uning that bolts to the crank pulley. By uping the diameter this is going to make my york spin faster at idle. I'm also adding a second alternator for my Premier Power Welder & second battery to this 6 rib pulley system. I could of added a spacer for the engine fan but I opted for the Flex-a-lite 220 w/ VSC.

i thkn you should be ok that is how most of the guys on pirate have it. It is an awesome idea and the pic the other 4runner that had done it, is awesome. I think you should stick to your inspiration and start making your brackets.

In case it was missed, the other trucks I've seen it done on are T100s, which are wider. I'm going ot have to relocate the battery (although it looks like i'll be able to move it over and mod the tray) and I may also have to move the fuse box (whihc i don't want to do). Hopefully I can get some good measurements and get my buddy's friend's shop to cut it with his plasma cutter.
