So i decided i was gonna drive my 04 2.7L reg cab with 265 75 16's on black steel wheels as lightly as possible seeing as gas prices are so friggin high! i usually got a little over 300 and i would drive pretty hard, getting it above 5k here and there off the line. all i did was city driving on the last tank. i never took my rpm's above 3200 and usually drove around 2000-2200rpm. i was happy when i hit 350 and still had a quarter of a tank left. 422!!!! talk about a money saver. im trying to do it again, ill def take a pic of it next time.

I get 450 miles all the time in my blown V8 truck. Too bad it's a 40 gallon tank. :pat:

I get 180 miles to a tank. Because my gauge is broken and shows empty after first 10 gals.

Damn, I average about 220 miles per tank with my 3.4l. I might give this light footed thing a try

Whew! I thought I was the only Pre Taco owner with crappy mileage! I usually get 240... 260 if I drive like a grandma! :pat:

Unfortunately no matter what I do I never get more than 14MPG. Was actually wondering what kind of mileage the 3rd and 4th gen's are getting? Anybody know of an auxilliary gas tank that mount's under the truck?

I have a 4th Gen V8 and I get 17-18 MPG in mixed city and freeway driving. I can get up to 21 average on the freeway at 75-80, but if I use the mileage indicator I get up to 24 Hard city driving gets me as low as 13, guess the 4 extra cylinders suck some gas. Wish they added another 23 gallon tank on it, hate filling up often

i have been getting 400 for the past couple of tanks. the 2.7 rules! its all about highway driving and not shifting past 3000 RPMs when not necessary.

I just got my timing chain replaced, and my valves adjusted, so my engine is running perfectly, and I'm on 3/4 of a tank, normal driving (kinda heavy foot), and I've gone about 150 on a quarter tank. Better than I've ever gotten.

I'll drive like a grandma next tank. If I don't go to the desert.

would you prefer running out of gas because your gas guage won't budge until you've gone through at least 1/4 of a tank?

I've had my deckplate in for a few weeks now, doens't seem like I'm getting better mileage. right around 17 for the couple of weeks I drive with the plate out. I'm doing a plate in cycle now, but before the plate I would usually hit the 17-18 mpg range.

It's just a hair nicer driving with the plate out, isn't it?

Actually at first I thought it was like that by design and doesnt bother me at all as 180 miles is good for 2-3 weeks

Shoot I get 14-16mpg w/my blown 4th gen runner. I hardly ever engage the boost.

My 2004 v6 4runner is averaging 21/22 now at only 1700 miles. I'm a leadfoot, I can't wait to drive light one tank.....if that every happens with 245 horses at my disposal

I average about 329 miles to the tank and that is correcting for the 31's on the truck. My odometer says that I am driving 43 mi one way to work, I used a buddies GPS and that said I am driving 47 mi. So I can go to and from work 3.5 times which equals 329 miles. If I divide that by 19 gal that equals 17.31 mpg is that right? Am I really getting 17 mpg? The reason I ask is I am a Lead FOOT, I don't know how to grandma it!

i only get about 200 to a tank. and i can't even do the light footed thing, every little hill i have to have it wide open just to get up it, some of the steep ones im at 4K the whole way up, stupid carb going out.

i can drive my truck all grandma like if i have to. if i want speed and power i will just get on my motorcycle. its a nice trade off. both vehicles get good mpg. my bike gets a lil over 40

I get about 160-180 miles per tank (3.4L). I have a pretty heavy foot too.

This reminds me.. Has anybody noticed the firmness of the gas pedal on the 96-98 4runners? I drove a 99, and the gas pedal was super soft.
