3zve fast idle problem
Hey all, my truck is idling at around 1600 - 1700 rpm. The only thing that has changed is that the weather is cooler now. i dont know if that has anything to do with it or not. i cant find anything wrong under the hood, and no check engine light has come on. Any ideas? How can I lower the idle?

There is an idle up (valve?) switch? thingie! (yes thats a technical term) that bumps up the idle when the truck is cold in order to warm it up quicker. After it warms up that "thingie" should "let go" and it should go back to normal.
Id check that thinige, (vacume switch, relay bla bla bla) that controls that. SOunds like its not disengageing.

Does your truck idle up and stay up, or does it idle up and down back and forth.
The idle "thingy" is inside the throttle body. It is controlled by the temperature of the coolant that goes through it. If your truck is low on coolant, air will get inside the throttle body and the idle will get weird. You also might want to check and make sure the throttle plate is all the way closed.
