3vze Exhaust Gasket

Still assembling my new 3vze motor.. And of course, I didn't take enough pictures when I took it apart.

The latest question. I have 2 Exhaust gaskets. They look similar but one has a large notch on top. Which side does it go on?? Anyone have a clue??

No matter how many pictures I take when disassembling something, I always miss something. Dang it.

Helllpp... I'm stuck with the 3vze.

Would someone go out and look at their Exhaust. One of the Large metal gaskets has a big Notch cut out for something in the top of it. One doesn't.

Could you please look and see which one is on which side.

If my block was here I'd test fit it and be able to tell you, but my block is at the machine shop getting hot dipped, bore and honed and the oil passages cleaned.

I checked manuals. The best that I can see is that the notched one goes on the driver side. It shows the short on on the passenger side and the notched one that is longer on the driver side. Hope that helps.

Test fit these and make sure before you install them. Also, if you are using the stock manifols, install them loosely and get your cross over tube attached. everything pieces together like a puzzle. Sometime you will install the manifolds tight and then the crossover will not bolt up. then you have to loosen the manifolds to get it lined up. This is not good because the gaskets should only be crushed once. That will ensure a good seal.

Nope, upon further detailed examination of both of my manuals, you can see the Exhaust gasket in a couple of the pictures, and the notches are apparently for all of the emissions crap on the right side(passenger side). Thanks anyway.

That was my original thoughts, but in my manual.....well, the one picture that I looked at it looks like it's on the other side.

I was going to tell you to look at what goes around the manifold and that might help you figure out which goes where. Glad you got it figured out though.
