3VZE (3.0) 5 speed questions (R150 bellhousing?)
The 5 speed for the V6 is the R150, correct? Does this have a removable bellhousing? If so, can a 2wd 5spd ('85 model) be bolted up with the correct bellhousing, or is this not possible since they come from different families? The R154 (non-turbo supra) bellhousing bolts to the 2wd 5spd, can the V6 5 spd bolt up to a supra engine? (thereby indicatiing it could bolt up to a 2wd 5spd trans)

Am I reading this correctly, you're wanting to put the R150 behind a 22r?
You'll need to get a 22rte turbo bellhousing (from an R151) from an 85-87 truck and use it to connect the 2 together.
There was one on ebay the other day.
Hope this helps,
Todd

Umm actually I want to put a 22R transmission behind a 3VZE...of course I should have thought of the 22RT-E bellhousing...it used the V6 trans, too!

Ahh, finally somebody else working on something similar to me. Im looking to put a 3S-GTE in front of a 5speed trans. The 3VZ-e uses the same bolt pattern as the 3s and 5s . If you figure it out to mate the V6 to the 5speed PLEASE let me know how you are going to do it. I have found plenty of auto trannies that will work by no 5speed

Um ... why? I have a 3VZE/R150 4Runner...By far the better part of that duo is the transmission...I have had a 22R, would much rather have that with the R150 than the other way around...

if you thought your 93 runner was a pig with the 3vze dont expect to get ANYware with a 22re in it. the v6 may not be the bestest engine ever, but it still puts out more hp and torque than 22r which you despertly need in the sec gen 4runner.

Maybe so, but at least with the 22R there is lots of parts available (headers, carbs, heads, cams) to something about it. That's what pisses me off so much about the 3VZE - everyone knows the power/fuel economy ratio is so ÅÅÅÅty, but there's not much you can do about it...
All that said, I am satisfied with the truck's performance for what I use it for. If I want to get somewhere in a hurry, I can take the Impala SS...
