3RZ ticking & stumble at idle

I have a 97 4Runner with 307K miles on it. I've recently noticed at idle I can hear an intermittent ticking sound and what feels like a slight stumble.
I've replaced plugs, wires, cleaned throttle body, maf, cleaned injectors. Still have the problem.
so next I ran a compression test, it came back 180-160-160-180. The 20 psi drop made me think it may be a head gasket issue so I did a block test it came back OK and there are no other symptoms of a bad head gasket.

I'm down to thinking maybe the valves need adjusted? Anyone have any ideas, I'm almost to the point of just buying a new engine for it so I don't have to chase this problem and possibly have more come up since I'm at such a high mileage. But if a valve adjustment could fix I don't wanna dump all this money into it.

any thoughts? Thanks in advance..

Have you checked your exhaust manifold? Could be an exhaust leak which is common on the 3RZ.
