3rd generation 4runner lift kits? etc...

I was looking for a lift kit for my 97 4 runner. I need help as to what company's make lift kits. I've searched rancho, superlift and all the other big suspension companies and all i've seen is 2.5 inch suspension lift. Are there any more suspension lifts that give 3-4 inches? What size tires can I run with the 2.5" kit?
I'm new here so please don't flame me if I'm in the wrong forum. Also, how do i go about getting a replacement engine without buying the whole truck? I wanted to put a 2003 V8 tundra or later engine in my 4runner but I don't know where to get one. Would this engine swap require changing the transmission as well or are there adapters so I don't have to change my transmission?
As far as axles go...can I possibly install a dana 44 as my rear axle? what truck, with the same set up, can i get the dana 44 from? I know the front is nearly impossible(without enough time) since its independent suspension in the front?

welcome to yotatech.

the search button is located on the top portion of this page. type in 3rg gen lift and click away.
you can do it cheap with spacers or around $1k with all new springs, shocks, ect or just do both??? just got to read a bunch of threads then post up your specific ?'s!

craigslist the cities surrounding you for a motor or try a junkyard.

As others have stated, the SEARCH button will do wonders for you.
Before you start on these projects, which appear to be quite indepth, you should slow down, take a deep breath, and research each topic. Then do some more research on each topic. search, Yotatech's search, Pirate's search (don't post there, you will be shot down in no time). Sounds like you want to make some major changes. Please do your homework before you jump too deep into any of these issues. You will be a much happier person when you are 1/2 way into any one of these projects, and things are going smoothly.

Research, read, read, read, and then read some more. Then after you have exhausted the numerous resources, bring your unanswered questions to the table, with some intelligable data that you have researched.

SteveO makes some great points. I took a year reading up on this stuff, finding out what works and what doesn't, before doing any mod's to my 4Runner. Searching for information and so on.

Compare rigs and mods, then do what works best for your setup.
You'll soon see that Yotatech has some great folks here, and everyone is willing to help out, just take your time, plan a project at a time and have fun.
