3rd gen 1996-early98 rear suspension recall

Just got a note in the mail from Toyota about a recall on my 96 4runner. It says there is some components that could fail and cause you to loose control. I don't know if this is a new finding or an old one and they are just reminding me to get it fixed. Any ideas on what exactly was wrong with these. I have aftermarket everything on the rear suspension so Im not quite sure if I even need to worry about it. My truck is prabably 10X more dangerous than stock. Let me know if anyone else got this.
thanks

The 2wd 4Runner's of that vintage had a supposed handling issue when loaded. The fix was new coil springs in the rear, and a conical bumpstop within the coil spring.

Toyota also included 4wd 4Runner's in the recall, so as to avoid confusion. Even though there was supposedly no handling issue with the 4wd's.

Even though I have a 4wd '97, I had the new recall springs installed, back in 2002. I figured they were new springs, so why not.

Did the new springs help with sag?

My rig has apparently been serviced for the recall (according to Toyota Canada, and my local dealership here in Utah), and I don't have conical bumpstops. If I load more than 100lbs (or 45.5 Kilos for you Kanuks) in the back seat, I sit about 1" from the bumpstops. It makes for an irritating journey on any road. I'm just going to upgrade to OME springs when I can, or at least hack the bumpstops down - I don't know what to do I think the issue was a problem like mine, where you're sitting on the bumpstops, you go to corner, and the suspension bucks you off the road because you bottom out. Toyota Canada also told me the recall closed a couple of years ago.
