i have a 1994 toyota 4x4 that i put a carbed chevy 350 in. we got it fired up yesterday, but i have a question about fuel delivery. when i have the stock fuel pump connected, it puts out way tooo much fuel, and when i pull the fuse for it, it seems like its not getting enough with the mechanical pump (maybe the stock pump is restricting it ). can i leave the stock fuel pump hooked up and run a regulator? if so, what is a good regulator to use? the 350 is carbed and the toyota was 22re efi. if the stock toyota efi fuel pump is pushing around 40psi, why cant i just add a fuel regulator that regulates the fuel down to 5-9 psi on the fuel line? will this work ? what do i need to do with the mechanical chevy pump? please tell me how to do this! any help is greatly appriciated!!!

Yes... an FPR will work just fine.

Back in tHe day I put a Holley Pro-jection TBI setup on my 383 RoadRunner, and the thing ran GREAT. Then some bat-rastard jacked it off my car, so I had to go back to a carb. All I did to keep the bowls from flooding due to the high pressure of the FI pump was add a Fuel Pressure Regulator and adjusted it for 7PSI.

WARNING... don't buy a cheep one. There are FPR's out there for use with mechanical pumps that WILL NOT HOLD FI pressures. You will probbably have to spend at least $50 to get one sturdy enough to handle FI pressures.
