33X11.5 or 12.5?

Looking at new tires.. Any advantages of the 11.5 vs 12.5 width? The 11.5 are a bit cheaper and probably would drive a bit better but my thoughts are the 12.5 would be much better for wheeling.. Any thoughts?

Right now I'm running 33 12.50 R15's BFG's Mud Terrain tires. They are great for wheelin and heavy loads. The only reason why I went to 12.50's is with the addition of the bushwacker fender flares it makes the sides of the truck look even. Before I also had a set of BFG's All terrain 31 10.50 R15's and they were also very good tires plus being all terrains they were a lot quieter too on the highway. When my mud terrains wear out I'll switch back to all terrains.........they'll just be 35's

Generally, the only advantage to a wider tire is flotation on sand and some kinds of snow and mud. An extra inch won't make much difference with that though.

I always prefer narrow tires myself. We don't have many narrow tire sizes here in the US, unfortunately. 33x11.50 isn't common here, but 33x10.50 and 33x9.50 can be found. I'd choose the 33x9.50. I feel narrow tires track much better, ford water more easily, fit better in the fenders, push less wind on the highway, are easier on the bearings (if you need less backspace to fit wide tires), are lighter weight, and look better in my opinion.
