Question 33" tires on 2nd Gen 4Runners

My 93 4Runner has a 2" body lift and I have added Downey HD springs and have Bilsteins all around. I just purchased some 33x12.50 Kumho MT--got them pretty cheap, run 1x at the "Brush Runs" in Crandon, WI. I am having them mounted on steel 15X8 Wheels and I will re-gear with 4.88 gears.

With this set-up, I don't anticipate any problems with the height, but I don't know about width, what back spacing do you recommend with this set-up? Anything else I should be considering at this time...I know lockers would be nice, but unfortunately not in the budget???

Thanks

Do your Downeys have any lift to them?
With about 3" total lift you should be able to run 33s, a bit more lift is good if you'll be havin' have lots of travel. You'll love the 4:88s.
Backspacing recommended 4 1/2", less will probably cause rubbing at full turn.

I've got BFG MT's on 15 x 8 MT Classic II's which are spec'd at 3 5/8 BS. They are actually a little over 3 3/4 BS when measured. I have a 1" BL and nothing else up front. Even with trimming and fender seam manipulation, I've got some rubbing. I'm adding the 1 1/2" Ball Joint spacer to help the cause.

tweak your torsion bars just a bit and you wont have any problems. I ran that exact setup for quite some time and had absolutly no rubbing, even in the front at full stuff and turn, i dont remeber what the backspacing on my wheels was.

Just trim it a little and aim for 4" of BS.

I have about 1.5" of front lift on my 95 running 33" MT/R's on 15x8's.

Another Cheesehead, eh?

Hey Nodlew505, nice to see a fellow Crandon addict. Wondering if you attend the Antigo, Dresser, and Bark River CORR races as well. Anyways I've been running 33x12.5's for about a year now with a little inner fender and valance trimming. I still get a bit of rubbing especially cornering on uneven terrain, but the only real annoyance for me is the way the mud packs in around the wheel wells. Guess I need to seriously think about a lift.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks to all for the your advise and experiences. I will keep you posted when I get things thrown together.

Flygtenstein and Dublin--born and raised in the land o' cheese. Flygtenstein, nice flex in your rig by the looks of your avitar picture! Dublin I work in your neck of the woods, Neenah. This was my first experience at a CORR Race, my bro-in-law has been going for the last 2 yrs and trying to get me to check it out. It was awesome to not only see those guys run...or fly is the better word, but to get a chance to go in the pits and check out some of the rigs and set-ups. I am going to try to go to Antigo and will most likely hit Crandon again in the fall.
