315/75/16 Maxxis Bighorns on my 98 4Runner

i found these on craigs list...

Hunters Special.. 4- Maxis brand LT315/75R/16 Tires. Mud Grip 65% Tread, Rotation marked. $200.

[IMG][/IMG]

i have 255/85/16 now on a 16x7 soft 8 wheel with about 3" of lift and no rub. i was going to buy the Maxxis Bighorn in a 285/75/16 new for $650 but found these tires for $200. just worried about that much tire on a 7" wheel.

255/85/16 = 33 x 10.5

315/75/16 = 34.5 x 12

what do you guys think of this tire on my 4runner? i have read that others have run this size with no problems on 7" rims.

bring on the thoughts and comments.....im going to pick them up tonight..

here is a pic of how the 4runner sits now with the 255/85/16...

i always heard that 8" was the narrowest wheel for a 12 inch tire. and thats a 34.5x12.50. lot bigger than a 33x10.00.

http://procomptires.com/conversionchart.htm

im sure if they dont fit that you could re-sell them for what you have in them though.

your 4Runner looks great btw. what kind of lift are you running?

im just running a spacer lift for now....i know, i know.

the lift is a front top out of the coil pack 1 5/8 " spacer and the rear is a 3" poly spacer. this gave me at least 3" all around...clears the 255/85 with no problems at all...no trimming.

[IMG][/IMG]

i have the 882 coils, waiting to put on when i get the 1" BL. just hope these will fit untill then.

i would suggest the 883's. i have them and they ride great and give just enough lift that i ran the 35's with body lift. on the street they didn't rub at all but offroad the would barley kiss the pinchweld.

and i would get the longer land cruiser coils for the rear if you get the 883's and if you stick with the 882's i would suggest the shorter land cruiser coils.

here is a picture of mine with the 883's and the toytec top out spacer with the longer land cruiser coils in the rear and 315's...

i did have a spring lift with spacers for a while... i had (and still have) the 883's with toytec's topplate spacer in the front and i had the 890's with a 1.5in coil spacer in the rear. i hated the spacer in the rear and needed more lift so i ditched that set up and got the longer lc coils at a junk yard for $50, and i love my set up now.

thanks man i have put a lot of work into it. lol but i am running stock 4.3's with a 5spd. put as of this weekend i will have 4.88's if you have a auto with stock gears you will get about 12mpg or so... i would look into regearing. keep your eyes pealed for someone selling whole diffs after a sas or something that is the easiest and cheapest way...

i just got back from picking up the tires. they look great!!! i measured them and off the rim they are 33.5" with 50-60% tread. the fronts have a little cupping but will put those in the rear. we will see how they fit in the am.

tires are mounted....

had to trim just a little off the front valance and the pinch weld. i will have to have the my 882,s with the top out spacer installed to do any kind of wheeling...for the street it is now what we call a pavement pounder....
