3.slow what?
i keep hearing about the 3.slow. I have a 1993 Pickup SR5 ext cab 3.0 5 speed. And not to say that it is my roomates startus r/t but it is fairly quick and peppy(playing with the throttle in first gear will lift the front tires off the ground....) All i have done is an airbox mod, new plugs, K & N filter and a pacesetter exhaust. i like the torque it has and it doesn't "run out of breath" at high RPM's like some ppl say. Maybe i got lucky but i love the 3.0 so far. (i have owned a 1997 S10 V6 5 speed, it had more guts but i like my toy better). So post a pic and a bump of your 3.slow.

of course the s10 had more guts, i had 3/4 of a 350 
i've driven a 3.0 truck and it had decent power, much more in the usable range than my old truck(20R/22R hybrid, basically a mild race engine). however, it looks like it's a nightmare to work on, whereas the 22R-E truck i bought soon after doesn't have that much less power and is a piece of cake to service(head gasket and timing chain in one good day)

I think the 3.0 is an ok motor. I would be really happy if it had a few more horsies. But it is a reliable motor. Haven't had any major problems with the 3.0 which is why i love my T4R so much.

I don't own a 3.0 but my buddy at works has one. It's a 5-speed truck (not 4runner) and it is slow as hell. It takes him forever to get going on the freeway and he even has to turn off the a/c if he wants to keep power. I can't believe that yours can be that much better, but it may be...

Hell my truck beat a 4.3L equipped fullsize chevy about a month ago. Either that or a SEVERELY delapitated 5.7L....

As far as lifting the front tires off of the road - no. Takes a good 1000+hp to do that, particularly with such a long wheelbase.

Guys, let's define exactly what we are talking about here. We are talking about a 1st gear launch, powerful enough to lift the front tires off the ground as stated by the thread starter. We are not talking about a timed "hop" by popping the clutch (or the gas) repeatedly until the tires briefly leave the ground.
It's simple physics. Think about it. Now post that video and prove us wrong.

Yes it is a first gear launch where you leave the clutch out and "pump" the throttle in rhythm and get the front end to "hop" off the ground...I know it can't be good for your front suspension or the driveline...but it is fun to do on occasion...especially when your friends are ragging on your "little" truck...

i've done the "bunny hop" as described above where you leave the clutch out and hit the gas with rhythm until the wheels come off the ground... i doubt the 3.0 can do a wheelie from a dead stop.
