3.4 L no compression. bent valves?
Hey guys I'm new to yotatech and I'm having a problem with my 95.5 Tacoma 3.4L 4x4. Two weeks ago I changed head gaskets on my truck and it has ran great until yesterday morning. I let my uncle borrow my truck and yesterday morning he tried to start it and it had no compression. I originally thought that the timing belt must have slipped but when I looked at it today it was intact and tight, but it looks like it might have skipped a tooth. I pulled the valve covers and turned the cams and saw that the valves aren't following the lobes of the cams. The valves are all jammed open. I'm 17 and this is my first truck so I don't have a lot of experience with engines. My uncle says that he didn't get the engine over 3k RPM(he's a trustworthy guy so I believe him) and that the truck ran fine the night before. I talked to my buddy about it and he said that the guy that resurfaced my heads has a history of screwing up valves. My question is what could have caused all of the valves to stick like this? and how should I fix it? I appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks.

Can you post up some pictures? This engine is a non-interference engine. How much was taken off the head when it was resurfaced? Did you or the machinist check the valve specs when you did the HG?

He never told me how much he took off, I turned the crank over twice after I got the heads and cams on when I replaced the HG just to make sure that my valves wouldn't hit if I messed up the timing and they were fine.

But seriously. I have no real idea. Other than SOMEBODY definitely did SOMETHING wrong. If I had to hazard a guess, the heads had too much material removed. Bing bang boom, not a non-interference engine anymore.
You tell me how...without replacing the heads(and whatever else...like the pistons...valves...and potentially much more than all of that...up to and including the entire engine).
