3.0 ISR mod done!

Hey guys finally got the ISR tube that my dad fabbed up by hand out of fiberglass. I used two 3 inch pieces of green stripe tubing to attach it. Throttle response is better and man can you hear the intake!! Guys with the FIPK know what I mean. Trying to get my buddy over to take few pics with his digi cam then I'll post some of it. Amazing the pile of stuff I have sitting here that I took out. Useless plastic!

EDIT NOW WITH PICS.
Well my $40 pen cam comes through again.. the quaility isn't that great but here they are

I'm glad you got it installed Joey!!! I installed mine about 3 weeks ago. At first not much was different except for the sound. But after 3 tanks of gas WOW what a difference!! It's like driving a new truck!! I'm glad that Dr.Z and Blu shared this mod with us! It is well worth the $20 I spent. In fact now, my gas mileage has improved....even with the enhanced performance. It's given new life to my 3.0L.

I can't wait to see the pics of yours. Mine isn't as pretty as yours, I did mine like out of PVC pipe and painted it black.

I'm saving my pile-o-plastic for the next owner of my Runner. I doubt if they'll want to put it back in. I'm thinking of getting all of us to combine our piles of useless plastic and dump them together off shore to create a reef for future generations to enjoy.

Haha I am keeping mine as well. It's sitting with my fan and shroud, runningboards, 225 radials, steel wheels, stock exhaust, old coils, old shocks, and old steering stabilizer out in the shed.

But after 3 tanks of gas
I've read lot's of stuff about pulling a fuse after doing this mod on the 3.4 to reset something.. think we could benefit from doing the same thing?

Your ECU will "learn" the new flows anyway. Pulling the fuse just makes it learn quicker, or so people think.

Congrats on the cool mod! Let's see some pics!

I'd like to do that, but even with the write up I wouldn't be able to do it right, I don't think.

Ok, but tell me.. Can you check the oil?? That is the one question I am curious about.. I plan on doing that soon to mine, Heck.. my rubber hose is cracked at the TB and the duct tape looks pretty bad.

What is this with the fiberglass?? I kinda like the sonnd of that.. How did he do it? What did he use as a mold? You have my intrest now..

US spec 3.0 must be different than Canadian models. The air cleaner housing on mine does not encompass a single tube. There is actually two inlets from the single ISR. It forks off into two distinct tubes just before the air box. Thus, this mod could not be done on my 3.0.

APC yes you could. You actually remove the box that that that fork goes to. It's a long skinny box that bolts to the side of the airbox... it goes out completely. See Blu's write up for what comes out.

FireFighter the dipstick is a little tight but it can be done easily. As far as the mold he built it himself using foam. I think he wrapped the foam in the fiberglass and then used gas to make the foam go away or something like that. Anyways he musta sanded the crap out of it because everything was baby butt smooth. The fittings are rubber grommets that you shove the plastic fitting through to make an airtight seal. Not sure where he got the plastic fittings but they fit perfectly!
