2nd Gens, who wants an engine swap
1. Hell yes, I have a need for speed !
2. Yes, but Im gonna need to save up/wait for Christmas.
3. Possibly, it all depends on price.
4. No chance.
2nd Gen Owners, please read and respond through poll. All others please post comments.
This thread is aimed at seeing what sort of intresest there is in the general 2nd Gen Toyota community towards purchasing a relatively inexpensive but complete engine swap kit. Myself and another yotatech regular (Prolax13) are in the early stages of developing a Toyota I-6 swap into a 2nd Generation 3.0 4runner. The engine we have decided to use will be the Toyota 2JZ-GE due to its performance (220 BHP, 215 Torque), reliability, gas mileage (24mpg Highway), wide-ranging aftermarket, and in some states, the existence of laws prohobiting the use of an older engine (ie. the 7MGE) in a vehicle. After our initial test-swap takes place, we would be willing to include all the knowledge we gained from performing the swap as well as all the necesarry parts (both retail and custom fabricated) into a single kit. This kit would include all necesarry parts including but not limited to:
-Radiator
-Fans
-Engine Mounts
-ECU/Wiring
-Custom Modified Crossmember
-Bellhousing
-a FULL list of detailed instructions w/pictures and diagrams
-and any other parts we find necesary while during our tests.
For those of you with 2nd Gen 4Runners, please respond to the poll with the answer that BEST represents your position.
*It is possible that we may create kits for the 3rd Gen afterwards, so if you have a 3rd Gen, please do not participate in the poll, but instead leave a post as comment
