If i was in a junkyard, what other types of Toyota trucks would I be able to pull a set of manual hubs off of to put onto a 91 IFS 4Runner?

How about those old school Toyota Vans? You know the pre-Previa ones that had the factory manual locking hubs.

those wont work the hubs on that are 5 lug, not 6 like the trucks.... i know its not exaclty the same part, but the housing plays into the part about it being a 6 lug or a 5 lug... and they arent compatible

obtained four different flavors of AISIN hubs for this article. Clockwise from top-left in the picture are hubs from an IFS Toyota 4Runner, a solid axle Toyota pickup, a 1993 Isuzu Amigo, and one from a Suzuki Samurai, Of these four, the Isuzu was the odd duck - the hub body was much smaller overall (with a different bolt pattern) than the others, it doesn't use cone washers for mounting, and the dial is built in such a way to reduce the extent of the travel of the clutch. The factors combine to make this hub a very compact unit. Still, the clutch, pawl, springs, and other parts are compatible with the other hubs.

The Suzuki and 30-spline Toyota hubs are virtually identical except for the inner hub. The grips on the dial of the 30-spline Toyota hub stick out slightly beyond the cap, where on the others, it is flush. Functionally, the dials are interchangeable between the Suzuki and 26- and 30-spline Toyota hubs. The 26-spline (IFS) Toyota hub has a deeper backspacing between the mounting flange and the inner hub than the other hubs, in order to clear the spindle nuts. Because of this, the Suzuki or 30-spline Toyota hub body will not fit on an IFS toyota wheel hub, but the reverse should work; i.e. a 26-spline Toyota hub body should be usable on a Suzuki or 30-spline Toyota hub.

I got WARN manual hubs, they work awesome, and only cost like $70. Highly recommended.

Get the Aisins and rebuild them - much more fun. Otherwise you can go the Warn way. I think I probably spent about $80 after shipping, paint, and gaskets. Warn also offers their premium hubs but they are a little more pricey. Yes any '86-'95 Toyota IFS hubs will work.

The Warn hubs are fine if you check them periodically cause the nuts tend to come loose. The Aisins one got the famous cone washers so they dont' come loose as often.

Okay, I know I'm posting in an old arse thread. I was searching info on hubs for a friend when I came across this piece of misinformation.

The manual 4wd van hubs from 87-89 are the exact same as the 86-95 IFS aisin hubs. Many of the vans came with the crappy automatic hubs and the van owners use aisin hubs off of 86-95 toyotas since the van ones are hard to come by.

The van hubs are not 5lug, the van rims are 5lug! The manual hubs from the vans and early ifs are the same.

I'm getting ready to get rid of my automatic hubs (on the van) and install a set of manual aisins. Anyone want some automatic hubs, lol.

Just wanted to make sure this was clear for other people who search.

Oh and maybe a mod can move this to the correct section for people searching.
