29's to 32's

right now i've got 225/75R15 Dayton Timberlines. that comes out to be 28.3 inches.

im going to have about 2 or 3" of lift. i want to fit some pretty wide tires. i don't think i'll be able to though. i was hoping to fit some 32x12.5x15 BFG MT's. if i got the right wheels(backspacing?), could i do that? they would probably rub a little. 11.5's would work too.

ps. anyone know a good tire size calculator? is there one where you can just put in the standard size and get out the metric size? i've looked at the BFG one, but it doesn't do that. and the one in the portal here isnt working.

I think there's a calculator somewhere on this site, but this is the one I always use.

Oops! I guess it doesn't have standard numbers. We'll get this right yet.

See if this works.
http://www.sgmotorsports.com/tiresize.htm

All I did was do a Google search for tire size calculators.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...+calculator%22

The one on the portal here is working for me just fine, but it's for doing gear changes and the effect it has on your speedo.

PS, the one Darren listed is the first Google hit in my URL above.

How was I to know?! Not everyone knows what the BFG one is (although I think I have seen it before).

Rowan,
when i put my lift on i tried putting the 33x12.50's on and they rubbed at full turn, so i had to go down to 32x11.50's. i think if the 33's were 11.50 wide then i could have fit them. so what im getting at is that the width is probably going to give u a hard time. try a place that will let you try out the tires after u get ur lift, thats how i found out what would fit mine.

casey - thats exactly what i was thinking. the 12.5s would probably rub even with the right backspacing. it would be good to find a place that will let me try em out first.

how much lift did you have??

darren - the bfg one is different... but i have used that one too both are good but not exactly what i was looking for. oh well

So, with a '99 4x4 and between 2" and 3" of lift, you can run 265x75R16's, a small 32 or you can run a 32x11.5 without rubbing on wheels with the stock backspacing (4") or better. I suspect you are going to have some rubbing if you go to the 12.5's.

I didn't read all the resposes but this " Site" has a number of useful calculators. The last one converts between inches and metric.

Why do the metrics specify width and OD in MM but Rims in inches?

Hope this Helps

Looks like you have a taco...they can actually fit a little larger tire than the 'runner can. A buddy of mine has a 3 inch lift on his taco and clears 33 12.50's with minimal rubbing if any.

His IS a PreRunner..is yours? I know they are very different to lift...maybe that is why you are questioning...

no, not a prerunner.

don't know a thing about those either. do they have the 4runner suspension? if they do... yeah, much different.

but im gonna have to just try out a few widths somewhere, i guess. only real way to tell. i think 11.5s will be plenty wide, but 12.5s would be... nasty.

A Prerunner is just a 2WD Tacoma.
