So I got the 285 Revos on, but went through a whole fiasco at Discount tire.

It all started when the guy comes in and says "hey we have a problem, you should come check this out". So I'm like crap, go out there and they tell me that the tire hits the upper arm to where it's completely not driveable. I'm thinking to myself, how is this possible? There's so many people out there that has 285's on stock wheels no problem.

At that point my only options were to re-mount the old 265 BFG's or get new wheels. The tire guy asks me if I want to look at wheel options and I say yes. He gives me a deal on MB Motoring wheels with less offset so it would clear the upper arm for 350, I agreed. While they were putting it on, it cleared the upper arm, so I went inside and paid for the wheels. When I finished they came in and said it wouldn't work because it came in contact with the caliper. I was like greeaaaaattt, then one of the workers came up with the thought that since the front suspension was in the air, the tire was drooped, therefore making the arm stick out further, if we set the tires on the round, it'll make the arm go back in a bit.

By this time it was 5:45, and they closed at 5 o'clock........I felt horrible, and helpless. In the end, lower the truck completely onto all 4 wheels allowed the arm to go in enough and clear the tire for normal driving. I still need to grind it down a bit like Schaeffer did, and also my slider will come into contact when my wheel is turned so I will have to grind those down as well and re-weld.

*sigh* what a day, at least I got my 285 Revos delivered in one day, and mounted and ready to go. Trying not to drive on them much until I can make the adjustments, so no real initial impression just yet. They just look beefier

that sucks dude. So did you end up with the rims they gave you, or did you stick to your stock rims?

nah, the wheels they gave me wouldn't work. Looked pretty sweet though, but I didn't need the extra 350 bucks they were gonna charge me for the wheels.

Try to get pics up today, but the rents just came in yesterday from Az, so I don't know if I'll have a lot of time.

They'll only rub at full droop, don't sweat it, just grind the calipers a little or get the Inland Trucks a-arms.

.......or 1/4" wheel spacers for sub $20 to fix the rub!

all you need is 1/4" spacers? i was going to order some wheel spacers from marlin crawler but i was going to try their 1" or 1.25"

Do not go with the 1/4" slip on wheel spacers. You will vibrate your teeth out going down the highway. I tried that and it's not a good fix unless you like driving as if there were 10 pounds of mud in each wheel.

Mine fit, but with like two centimeters to spare. Why don't they all fit?

I cut about .5 inch from my upper a arms. Stock Tundra 17" wheels with 285's. Tires do rub the frame at full turn.

For 250 you could have gotten my shaved stock upper arms arms and kept your stock rims.

Saved you 100 bucks and no matter what position the suspension was in 100% clearnace.

Oh well...................

I wouldn't. Those things destroyed my upper ball joints.

Thankfully I have a Dana 44 with new ball joints now.


Just say no to BLING, stock stock and safe.

Also don't even get me started on the bushings. Those are so wrong too.

They completely change the way Toyota designed the arm to work.

Stay stock it works.

I'll second that. I tried everything to eliminate the vibration. There just wasn't any way I could find to balance them. I took them off and have lived with the rubbing since last summer.

In my opinion, the rubbing on the A arms is pretty minor. It'll quickly rub the paint off, but I haven't noticed any damage to the tire or the arm at all. I do try to be careful off road though. There's definitely a good amount of rubbing at full stuff and on the frame when turning sharply. It sounds bad but I haven't had any damage yet.

Just a note: I've got 285/75R16 BFG Mud Terrains rather than the Revos, but it sounds like they're just about the same size.

slip on spacers suck, they can eat through the studs and cuase a wheel off and a possible rollover..... i used to work in a tire shop... and i was able to see some of this firsthand, but i caught the problem before someone died as a result..... from what i have heard the inland arms suck......

Are the newer Yotas Hub centric? I ran 1/4" spacers on the front of my 85 for about 174,000 miles and never had an issue. Many sets of tires, all balanced fine, never an issue with loosening or stud chafe...

Was that with the longer Tacoma arms or the ones made for 4Runners? I thought they were supposed to correct the ball joint angles? I have them and have had no problems, although they only have about 5k miles and 2 offroad trips on them and I no longer disconnect the front swaybar.

Roger this...I've had no vibration issues....and cannot see any issue developing with the studs loosing threads....

So you have 285/75/16s on ur stock toyota Rims and dont encounter anything? I was thinkin about going 285/75/16 but dont want to run into problems

I "think" it was the original longer ones, but I really don't know when it happened. Somewhere along the line the upper washer was destroyed and after a few years the base cup of the ball joint was tearing out.

The other thing I really don't like is that they don't use the press in rubberized stock clike bushings which has no moving parts ony rubber flex. The aftermarket arms don't work this way.
