Which size should i choose for a new set of tires tomorrow. (265/75/r16) or (265/70/r16)? I am gonna get bf goodrich all terrains.

I have a 97 4runner 4wd 5speed 2.7 with 4.556

Go with the 75's...when I switched it was more expensive to get the 70's because they were more of an odd ball size. The 75's will fit fine maybe minor trimming on the fronts.

Yes, this is a well versed topic. Sometimes it will be cheaper and sometimes it wont, as I found when I was doing tire shopping. Some things of topic was acceleration, some noticed a difference, others did not.. some saw a drop in mpg, others did not (with accounting for tire size change), also most noticed that with comparing to GPS speed their spedometer actually became accurate with the 265/75, compared to the 265/70 and spedometer which was less than the actual gps speed. For fitment some noticed rubbing and others didnt...haha,,so yes quite ambivalent, but at least you know the possible outcomes..and some find info when they search, and some dont find any info when they dont search.

go with the 75's. i have only managed to rub mine 2 times and that was at EXTREME stuffage!
plus they are about an inch bigger...more clearance!

My old BFG's AT's were 75's and they were killer off road..IMO I just didn't care for them in Seattle's rain, but maybe it was cus' they were getting there.

I replaced my 70's with 75's.... I love them (goin bigger soon though).

75s. They look beefy on stock rigs and still look good with 2.5" of lift. I went with the BFGs and am happy so far. I have not noticed a change in fuel mileage or acceleration, but I do like the slightly lower cruising RPMs on the freeway. By GPS my speedo is off 1 mph at 65 mph, which I think is closer to correct than with stock tires, as someone else mentioned previously.

I would also definitely say go with the 75's. I run 265/75/16's Kumho A/T's on my rig, I love them, you gain abot an inch over stock, they are roughly 32 X 10.5, its a good size, and will look good on your rig. I've heard that they rarely do rub on the 4runners, but not at all on my taco. Good luck!!

I currently run the 75's and havent had any problems with rubbing on my '99. i do think that my 70's i had on appeared to be a little wider however it's probably an optical contusian, ha ha!
