22re clatter

I've got an 87 rnr 22re. I rebuilt the head, new timing chain, oil pump, connecting rod brgs, and adjusted the rocker arms 6 times slightly different. I still have a top end clatter/knock on what seams to be #3 on the intake. Any opinions on the subject, theory, whatever.

what did you set the clearances to on the rockers? i like to do .007 intake, .011 exhaust.

your adjuster screws could also be worn out.

set intake .008 exaust .012 but like i said i've set them tight and loose... what do you mean adjusters may be worn? i did notice when i set them and then tighten the nut they would end up slightly looser. my clatter is above 2000rpm but only with very little torque on the moter ie:stomp it, it stops back off, it stops(just cruising)...
OH YEAH! where do you find a .006,.007 feeler guage?
thanks for the reply LONESTAR

most sets will have ones that small, i think mine go down to .003 or .004"

don't set them that tight though!

the adjuster is the little screw part that you turn in or out to adjust, it's just a special stud. often times they get flat spots and make a lot of noise.
