22re cel 89 pu

the check engine light on my truck has recently come one and i have no idea why.
what are some of the causes of it comeing on ?

i have checked the oil and all fluids

i have searched the site and seen that the o2 sensor can cause it to come on, how can i tell if my sensor is still good ?

if it is the o2 sensor is it alright to drive like it is or will it mess up wthe ecm ?

the truck has 161K miles on it, and i dotn feel like sinking more money into it, it is more of a winter beater and get to work truck than anything

cel indicates a error code in the engine. There is a test terminal and the cel will blink, giving you a code. This will tell you where to start looking for a failed/shorted componet. Repair manuals have a decoder and more details about reading cel codes
